In Norm Foster’s comedy about boomerang kids and empty nesters, we meet Hilda and Sam Fluck in 1956, on the day Sam is going to purchase their new indulgence – a brand new TV. Plans to watch Gunsmoke and snuggle on the couch are thwarted by son Gary, who moves back home after losing his job, and daughter Janey, who moves back home after leaving her husband. They are soon followed by Gary’s bookie and also his girlfriend, all who have no problem hopping over the fence and into the backyard.
