Five women are trying to survive on the home front in Calgary during World War II. One is working just to keep food on the table, while another throws herself into volunteering to help protect her husband’s image. One is struggling under the weight of a pacifist mindset and a husband disappointed that he cannot serve, while a mother faces the fear of losing her sons. And the last, through no fault of her own, is seen as the enemy, even though she’s a Canadian. Each of them has a different reason to survive, but together, they have a simple, common goal – to make it through as best they can.
